The Laser Consultation: A 15-Minute Structure That Converts and Protects
Consultations fail in two directions: so vague the client walks, so rushed the contraindication slips through. A fixed 15-minute structure prevents both — and it converts, because structure reads as competence.
The 15-Minute Arc
- Minutes 0-3 — the client\’s words: \”What would you like to change?\” Uninterrupted. Their phrasing becomes your treatment vocabulary
- Minutes 3-6 — screening: medications, conditions, pregnancy status, previous treatments, photosensitivity — the red-flag sweep from the written form
- Minutes 6-10 — assessment: skin typing, zone inspection, the diagnostic tests the case needs (stretch test, light angle, magnification)
- Minutes 10-13 — the honest plan: sessions count, intervals, realistic endpoint, downtime, total arc — delivered as numbers, not adjectives
- Minutes 13-15 — next step: book or defer, and say why
The Three Sentences That Build Trust
- \”That will take N sessions\” — said at consultation, not at session four
- \”This part is not treatable with devices\” — the referral sentence
- \”Here is what you will see after each session\” — expectation setting in writing
Documentation from these fifteen minutes — photos, form, plan — is the clinic\’s entire legal position if anything goes sideways. Screening content pairs with the red-flag guide; session-arc numbers come from the area guides such as hair removal by area.
